No. Minh Nao does not use any additives or chemicals during the production process. All products are fired using traditional methods, from plantation-grown wood, without chemical treatment or impregnation. Our production process is strictly controlled to ensure purity, safety for human health, and environmental sustainability.

• Binchotan does not emit toxic gases such as SO₂, NOₓ, or VOCs (only in negligible amounts). However, the combustion of charcoal naturally produces CO and CO₂; therefore, it should always be used in well-ventilated areas and never in enclosed spaces.
• Since Binchotan consists of over 95% carbon, it is not harmful in small accidental exposures such as inhaling dust or tasting residue. Nevertheless, it is essential to purchase Binchotan from reliable sources to ensure purity and safety. It should not be self-administered for medical purposes.

The key differences are in the carbon content, burning temperature, and burning duration:

• Carbon content: Binchotan charcoal contains over 92% carbon, whereas regular black charcoal typically contains around 70%.
• Burning temperature and time: Binchotan can burn steadily at up to 1000°C, with even higher temperatures at its core, maintaining heat for 3 - 5 continuous hours depending on the size. Regular charcoal generally burns at around 500°C, extinguishes after 1–2 hours, and produces significant smoke.

Binchotan charcoal is a premium white charcoal, produced with traditional method through high-temperature firing at around 1000°C. During this process, impurities are vaporized, leaving behind an extremely high carbon content while retaining the original wood’s natural shape. Binchotan burns longer, produces no smoke or odor, making it ideal for industrial combustion, food grilling, air purification, and interior decoration.
